Liberated Roots Collection exists as an act of Black Love. Love is a universal human experience. It's been said that love is the most powerful force on earth, and I believe that to be true. There are many forms of love, and an especially powerful one is the love between people who share a common heritage and experience as Africans in America. This kind of love has been called black love, Afro-love or even African-American love by some scholars and activists. But whatever you call it—and I prefer "black" because it reminds us of our shared history—it remains one of the most potent forces for creating community and solidarity among African-Americans today. HeyDays co-working space is officially open, and we had the pleasure to join them at their grand opening! As a woman and people of color (POC)-centered co-working space and the first Black-owned incubator in St. Louis, HeyDays has been a long time coming. Founded by business coach, Keisha Mabry, HeyDays provides a space where entrepreneurs, creatives and professionals can come together to share ideas, resources and insights while working toward their individual goals. We are excited about the work that Keisha and HeyDays is doing in alignment with...
Roots Oasis is where I express my own special talent, vintage apparel sourcing with a specialty in 70s-90s bold prints. And I'm not just a curator, I'm a stylist as well. Helping rescuing special pieces from the landfills and connecting them with new human homes fills my cup. My motto is Be-You-to-the-Fullest and I'm all about helping you step into your true self with old and bold pieces styled into a modern redux. I know that I've done my job well when I see you look into the mirror and beam after trying on a new piece from our collection. At the moment, we are still working on getting all of the vintage inventory online; so, you should come to...
Clothing For All.
People of color are the number one victims of environmental pollution and unfair/unsafe work conditions caused by fast fashion.
Clothing swaps (clothing exchanges) are a fun way help to interrupt that cycle. Liberated Roots is continuing to do our part to support our community, and our environment.
Keep an eye out for our next clothing swap and our other community-related events!
See you soon.
